My name is Kira M'Lot and I'm the owner of A Dogs Life K9 Centre. I have grown up living with dogs although it wasn't until my high school years that my love for these four legged friends grew even deeper. I spent my spare time at the Langley Animal Shelter walking homeless dogs, and worked there for one summer. I love the bond you make with dogs. Unlike people, dogs do not judge you; as long as you love them, they will love you back.
I also worked at a boarding kennel where I've learned all about running a business and caring for dogs. During this time I took a Dog Trainers Apprenticeship program, taught by Jayne Nelson and Alicia Holmes. Throughout this program I've learned how to train dogs, and how to read their body language. We also worked one on one rehabilitating some rescue dogs in cooperation with the SPCA. I have attended Dr. Patricia McConnell's seminar on agression and biology of emotion. In March of 2008 I took a worshop with Ian Dunbar on agression and training adult dogs and puppies. I'm certified in Dog First Aid. I took this seminar with Michelle Sevigny, owner of DOGSAFE. I have three dogs, who are very much part of my life. Christy, our 10 year old Irish Setter is the family pet. Pharoh, our 3 year old Belgian Malinois is the agility dog. He absolutely loves it and we have recently started to compete in trials. Last of all is baby Tayah, my 1 year old Golden Retriever. She is my little working girl, and we have our first obedience trial coming up in March. In my spare time I enjoy teaching Tayah and Pharoh fun tricks, and the challenge of training them at the same time. Please continue to check my website and follow along with me as the company develops! If you wish to speak to me, don't hesitate to send me an email on my contacts page. |
