Jazzy is also good with small children. Jazzy is a healthy 11 year old kitty and unfortunately due to family health issues she is now looking for a wonderful home to retire into. Please contact us for more information on Jazzy
Blazer is a handsome, attention-attracting 1 1/2 year old Blue Weimaraner. As he is still young, his puppy traits will more than likely mellow over time as he gets older and the stability of a forever home become his norm. He is a big cuddly dog and sometimes youll swear that hes trying to hug you with his paws. He definitely knows how to relax and loves resting in front of the fire or trying to steal some cuddles on the bed or couch. He is one of our favourites and we have been rescuing and fostering Weims for adoption for 37 years! Ideal owner(s): His ideal owner(s) want(s) a high energy dog and are either committed to OR excel at providing boundaries with a calm and assertive energy. Blazer is considered to be a very strong dog physically (with no ill intention). As he is easily excitable, offering praise in a calm and appreciative voice might give your training staying power with him. Blazer needs to know that his owner(s) have their head(s) on straight! Or perhaps this is what you most want to learn with his help. :) Consistency and patience will make him bloom in your presence whether that comes from a home with a single owner, couple or family. If you are a family considering a dog, Blazer is exuberant and so older children would be a better fit for his energy level, size and body movements at present. Blazer is responsive to treats, but is even more responsive to someone that is willing to connect with him on an energetic level who will use energy to communicate and work with him. Physical needs: Blazers mind and body love to be engaged and so physical and mental exercise are lifes greatest pleasures for him for balance. He would be thrilled to join you on a hike or run regularly. It turns out that hes a bit of an expert on the treadmill too. Behaviour/Obedience/Quirks: He knows some basic obedience like sit, lay down, stay and leave and is getting better on the leash. As he is exuberant and a rather large dog that doesnt know his own strength sometimes, the canny collar (see youtube videos for more information) is being used to help communicate with him during walks. He is not accustomed to it yet, but it does make a noticeable difference when walking him from the human perspective. A strong and/or very present handler (to keep him in a calm and submissive state of mind) is best as he does get distracted easily and is a strong dog. He is in need of (an) owner(s) is/that are very attentive and committed to his training needs while hes still growing up. He is completely house trained (one polite bark or scratch at the door), and loves his crate for some "me time". He exhibits an interest in whats going on in the kitchen on the counter, so his kitchen etiquette could be improved. He is pleasant at feeding times (no food aggression whatsoever) and will let you do just about anything with him including taking a bath. Blazer has an EXTREMELY high prey drive when it comes to cats, so its best if his other furry siblings are dogs only even little ones. He currently lives with some great 'big dog' buddies so he is getting some socialization with larger dogs so that he can relax and does not feel the need to be in charge. He needs the occasional firm reminder that it's fine to just relax and be a dog.
